Tyco Integrated Fire & Security, a Tyco company which designs, installs and services fire and electronic security systems for commercial, industrial and residential customers, has been selected by Italian shipbuilder, Fincantieri, one of the largest shipbuilding groups in the world, to provide a range of solutions for its new marine vessel, Hull 6231.Tyco will be providing project planning, supply and installation of the ship’s security, safety and communications solutions.
Tyco has a long-standing relationship with Fincantieri, during which time it has provided security and technology solutions for more than 140 marine vessels. This latest contract underscores Tyco’s expertise in the maritime sector and ability to design and install highly complex integrated security and life-safety solutions.
The vessel will feature its own fully-equipped hospital which will include a suite of medical consulting rooms, state-of-the-art treatment rooms, an intensive care ward and a medical pharmacy and laboratory. To enable the smooth operation of the hospital facilities, Tyco will be supplying the medical gas distribution system, Nurse Call care communication system and all the necessary medical equipment.
As part of the installation, Tyco will also provide Public Address and General Alarm services in addition to integrated IP Video distributed over fibre optic architecture, in order to provide effective surveillance and communications across the entire vessel.
In order to set sail, Fincantieri vessels must pass rigorous inspections from a number of international naval certification bodies including IMO, RINA, Lloyd’s Register and DNV. Fincantieri therefore chose Tyco due to its experience and expertise in the marine industry combined with its knowledge in ensuring compliance.
